Comments:    After leaving SHS in 1973, I went to Clemson University and majored in Spanish. I earned my BA in 1977 and married college sweetheart Joseph Johnson in 1981. I worked for a time at WSPA-TV and WYFF-TV. In 1991 I decided to teach and got a job with Henderson County Public Schools in Hendersonville, NC teaching Spanish to elementary school children (grades K-5). In 1996 I began work on a Master's degree in English and made a trip to England in 1998 to present part of my Thesis to the Wordsworth Trust. I earned the Masters in 1998. I continued to teach with the school system, teaching high school ESL toward the time I got my masters and College English at a nearby community college. I decded to get my Education Specialist degree in 2002 and began work toward getting a NC principal's license. I completed that degree in 2005--and got my first assistant principalship in 2005. This year I was transferred to a larger elementary school (Mills River Elementary) and we are in a brand new building! I enjoy reading, ghost hunting, adventure, Twilight books and movies, Zydeco music, and karaoke.

School Story:    My favorite school story. Well most of those are very embarrassing. One that stands out involves a crush I had . . .
(no, I dare not tell!)
I had decided in my mind that I was going to ask him to the Jr./Sr. prom. He was younger than I, so he would have to have been the "askee". (The younger bit is the ONLY clue you get~!) Fonda Williams, my best friend, told me that I had to make that call on a certain night. I had been chicken all along, so I procrastinated. But there came a point of no return (we had to turn in our names and our date's name if we were going.). So, on a Wednesday night, I had to make the call. I rehearsed with Fonda several times during the day. We decided that by 8:00, I had to call him and ask, or SHE would do it for me! I could hardly eat dinner! And at 20 minutes to 8, she started calling. By 5 till, it was time. My hands were sweating so badly that I thought I would puke. I picked up the phone and dialed several times, hanging up each time before I hit that last number. But I did finally get the whole number out. A masculine voice said, "Hello?" and out came my request: "thisisanneandIwantedtoknowif youwanttogotothepromwithme???" No breath in between, just a flaming stream of syllables. The guy thought a minute and then said, "I don't think my wife would let me; but do you want to ask my son?" Gwaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! I just wanted someone to kill me!!!

On one of my "ghost-hunting" excursions in Charleston. That squeeze box is guaranteed to keep the spooks away!

Me, my husband Joe, and our Irish Wolfhound, Terrwyn.
